Favorite Podcasts for Kids

Girl Listens to a Podcast on a Picnic Blanket

As a parent, there are few things more magical than watching your little one discover new things and use their imagination in ways they haven’t before. Podcasts are a favorite activity for many adults because they offer engaging and entertaining information. Podcasts for kids are no different – they can teach your little ones in ways you didn’t think possible, while you get the joy of watching their minds ignite and make new connections!

Why Should My Kids Listen to Podcasts?

Whether you’re a parent looking for a new preschool home activity or your child has a special interest, children’s podcasts offer a gateway to exploration and boundless creativity. Podcasts can help them dive into a beloved topic and broaden their worldviews from the comfort of home. They’re also great to take along for car rides or while traveling to keep little ones entertained in a way that offers educational opportunities.

Finding the Right Kids Podcast

Choosing the right podcast for your little ones can be a bit daunting, with thousands of options available on multiple different platforms. When you are searching for a great kids podcast, look for ones that are:

  • Educational
  • Short
  • Engaging and fun

Even though we think your child will love them, podcasts targeted towards little ones should be relatively short to fit their attention span. Finding a short, educational podcast is a great place to start. Plus, many podcasts for kids are educational without seeming so because they are so engaging and exciting and fill the time slot with different voices, sound effects, and fun topics.

Our 3 Favorite Kids’ Podcasts

Here at The Breakie Bunch Learning Center, we love finding things to do at home that complement our learning objectives and help reinforce things that kids are learning in preschool. All the programs at The Breakie Bunch are multifaceted and focus on physical development, social-emotional skills, and STEAM activities. Here are three of our favorite kids’ podcasts that we think perfectly complement all the learning happening within our facilities:

1. Growin’ Up with Emily Calandrelli

Emily Calandrelli is an engineer and science expert who has honed in on children’s education and entertainment. This podcast for children around five to eight years old is all about the ever-present question: what do you want to be when you grow up? We love this podcast for little ones because it opens up a world of possibilities for kids, allowing them to dream and explore their interests.

2. Strange Animals Podcast

Kate Shaw, a podcaster in East Tennessee, brings one of the most exciting and interesting topics to life in “Strange Animals.” This is a great option to entertain kids and adults because it covers all kinds of strange and interesting animals, whether they are real, extinct, or even make-believe. This is a great podcast for preschool-aged children because they learn all about animal sounds and names in our preschool program.

3. David Walliams’ Marvellous Musical Podcast

If your little ones love to move and grove, look no further than the Marvellous Musical Podcast by English comedian David Walliams. This kids’ podcast takes a look at classical music history from a fun, goofy standpoint. From the careers of composers to the process of creating music, your music-lover will learn a ton.
